CV

Daniela Gomez Paz is a Caleña-US mixed media artist combining textile elements with painting and sculpture. She threads fibers as strands of information, exploring notions between the body, biology, nature, and femininity. Gomez Paz is interested in deconstructing oversimplified relationships that define these notions by delving into a critical space that draws from her transcultural migratory experiences, working through the knots and layers within the nuances of language and cultural perspectives. Utilizing organic and synthetic material, Gomez Paz assembles broken and discarded objects, hoping to invite reflections of the self that are more tangled with the divergent, and interrelated across time and space. She coils the fantastical with the archival, suspending movement in place, capturing moments in flux—documenting the undocumented.

Daniela Gomez Paz (b. Cali, Colombia) holds a double degree: BFA & BA from SUNY Purchase, a MAT from Queens College, and an MFA from the Yale School of Art. Gomez Paz’s has had solo exhibitions at Mindy Solomon Gallery, Miami, FL and NOON Projects, Los Angeles, CA. Her work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at SPURS Gallery, Beijing, CN; Perrotin Gallery, New York, NY; and Plain Gallery, Milan, IT; among others. She has been awarded the Yale’s School of Art Elizabeth Canfield Hicks Award in drawing/painting from nature, the Alice Kimball Traveling Fellowship, and the Fountainhead Residency Fellowship. She has a forthcoming solo exhibition with Lyles & King in 2025. Gomez Paz lives and works in Beacon, NY.
