Rosa Loy
Rosa Loy's paintings address fundamental aspects of existence in layered narratives that synthesize her fascination with nature, the unconscious, memory, and folklore. Her beguiling casein on canvas compositions, populated with all female protagonists, ask us to consider the cost of patriarchy to our bodies, our relationship to nature, and to other people. Her compositions are imbued with a charged eroticism and ecofeminist ideals, directing focus towards the value of female knowledge, ability, intuition, and experience. Loy (b. 1958, Zwickau, Germany) lives and works in Leipzig, Germany.
